Design and Styling

The design of the BMW F 450 GS is inspired by its elder sibling, the R 1300 GS. The bike comes with a typical GS look, which includes a sharp and attractive front beak, muscular fuel tank, and sleek radiator shrouds. Its rear section is slim and modern, giving it a sporty and adventure-ready look. The colour combination of the bike – blue, white, and red – is inspired by the theme of the GS Trophy, which makes it even more attractive.

The headlamp design of this bike is also special, which includes quad-LED daytime running lamps and a stacked LED headlight setup. This design not only makes it look modern and futuristic, but also ensures better visibility at night. Apart from this, it also has a large windscreen, knuckle guards, and a strong engine sump guard, making it ideal for off-road riding.

The single-piece rally seat design of the F 450 GS provides comfort and control to the rider, although some users have suggested that the pillion seat could be more comfortable and spacious. Overall, this bike promises better performance in both urban and off-road conditions with its compact and lightweight design.

Engine and Performance

The BMW F 450 GS features a new 450cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that generates 48 horsepower and about 45 Nm of torque. This engine is designed for the A2 license class and has a unique offset ignition system, which makes it high-revving and torque-rich. This engine is not only powerful but also extremely efficient due to its light weight and compact design.

This bike weighs only 175 kg (concept model), making it one of the lightest bikes in this segment. Its power-to-weight ratio makes it better than rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox, and according to some reports, there may also be an option for a semi-automatic gearbox, which will make riding in urban traffic even easier.

This engine offers strong torque even at low revs, making it suitable for both technical off-road riding and highway cruising. Its mileage is expected to be around 25-30 kmpl, which is reasonable for its category.

Chassis and Suspension

The chassis of the F 450 GS is completely redesigned, offering light weight as well as enough strength and stiffness to meet the demands of off-road riding. It has fully adjustable upside-down forks at the front and preload-adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. This suspension setup is inspired by rally and enduro sports, giving it better control on rough roads.

The bike has a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, which come with tubeless spoke wheels. Some test models have also been seen with alloy wheels, which come with tubeless tyres. This setup makes it versatile for both on-road and off-road. For braking, it features disc brakes at both ends, supported with electronic aids like cornering ABS and traction control.

Features and Technology

The BMW F 450 GS comes with premium features and advanced technology in its segment. It features a 6.5-inch TFT display, which comes with Bluetooth connectivity. The display supports smartphone connectivity, call and message notifications, music playback controls, and turn-by-turn navigation. Apart from this, the bike has features like multiple riding modes, lean-sensitive ABS, and traction control, which enhance the safety and riding experience of the rider.

Other notable features include all-LED lighting, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and side stand cut-off switch. All these features make it a modern and rider-friendly bike.

India launch and price

The BMW F 450 GS is expected to be launched in India in December 2025, and will be priced between Rs 4 and 5 lakh (ex-showroom). According to some sources, its on-road price can go up to Rs 6.5 to 7.5 lakh. The bike will be manufactured in India in partnership with TVS Motor Company, which will help keep its price competitive.

Having it produced at TVS’s Hosur, Tamil Nadu plant will not only reduce costs but also meet the needs of the Indian market. Some users have suggested that its seat height be lowered to 820 mm to make it more accessible to Indian riders.

Competition

The F 450 GS will compete with bikes like the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, CFMoto 450MT, and Honda NX500. However, its premium branding, advanced features, and BMW G-series make it the most affordable bike in India.
