On August 2, 2025, four Indian-origin senior citizens from Buffalo, New York—Dr. Kishore Divan (89), Asha Divan (85), Shailesh Divan (86), and Gita Divan (84)—died in a car crash in Marshall County, West Virginia. The group was traveling to Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold, an ISKCON temple in Moundsville, when their 2009 Toyota Camry veered off Big Wheeling Creek Road, plunging down a steep embankment.

Reported missing on July 29 after failing to check into the temple, the family was last seen at a Burger King in Erie, Pennsylvania, with their vehicle detected on Interstate 79 later that day. A multi-state search involving helicopters and local authorities ended when the crash site was found around 9:30 PM on Saturday. Recovery took over five hours due to the rugged terrain.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident, with no signs of foul play reported. The Indian-American community, including the Council of Heritage and Arts of India, mourns the tragic loss of these respected elders.
