A Premium Contender in the Full-Size SUV Segment
August 18, 2025, New Delhi, India – JSW MG Motor India has officially launched the much-anticipated MG Majestor, a premium full-size, three-row SUV, at the festive season event, capitalizing on the high demand during this period. Unveiled earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Majestor is positioned as a flagship offering above the MG Gloster, with which it shares its underpinnings. Priced between ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Majestor aims to challenge established rivals like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Nissan X-Trail.

Bold Design Inspired by Global Trends
The MG Majestor sports a striking design, drawing inspiration from the international-spec Maxus D90 SUV. Its exterior features a bold, upright octagonal grille finished in gloss black, flanked by sleek LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and vertically stacked split headlamps. The SUV’s muscular stance is accentuated by chunky wheel arch cladding, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and blacked-out elements on the door handles, roof, and ORVMs. At the rear, connected LED taillights, dual exhaust tips, and prominent ‘Majestor’ badging enhance its sporty appeal. The redesigned front and rear bumpers, along with silver faux skid plates, give it a premium yet aggressive look.

Premium Interiors with Advanced Features
Inside, the Majestor offers a spacious seven-seater cabin with an all-black theme, exuding luxury and sophistication. The dashboard features a 12.3-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paired with a fully digital driver’s display offering customization options. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, ventilated and massaging front seats, a wireless phone charger, a 12-speaker premium sound system, and an electric tailgate. The SUV also boasts a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and auto-hold functionality, making it a strong contender in the premium SUV segment.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the MG Majestor is powered by the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine as the top-end Gloster variants, delivering 216 bhp and 479 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with options for rear-wheel drive (RWD) or a selectable 4WD system equipped with terrain modes for enhanced off-road capability. A single-turbo diesel variant, producing 161 bhp and 373.5 Nm, is also available for the 2WD configuration. While a hybrid variant has been speculated, MG has not confirmed its availability at launch. The Majestor’s robust ladder-frame chassis ensures durability, making it a strong rival to the Toyota Fortuner.
Advanced Safety and ADAS
Safety is a priority for the Majestor, which comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Other safety features include six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability program (ESP), ISOFIX child seat anchors, and hill ascent/descent control. Although the Majestor has not yet been tested by NCAP, its comprehensive safety suite positions it as a strong competitor in its class.
Market Positioning and Pricing
The MG Majestor is strategically positioned as a premium alternative to the Gloster, which remains on sale alongside it. With an estimated price range of ₹40 lakh to ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Majestor offers a compelling mix of luxury, technology, and performance at a competitive price point. Compared to the Toyota Fortuner, priced between ₹33.43 lakh and ₹51.44 lakh, the Majestor provides advanced features like a larger infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS, which the Fortuner lacks in some variants. The Majestor is expected to appeal to buyers seeking a feature-rich, premium SUV with strong road presence and off-road capabilities.
Launch Strategy MG Majestor and Market Outlook
Originally slated for a May 2025 launch, MG postponed the Majestor’s debut to June-July 2025 to align with the festive season and compete head-on with the updated Toyota Fortuner, which is expected to receive a mild-hybrid powertrain and new features. The decision reflects MG’s intent to maximize market impact by leveraging festive season sales momentum. The Majestor will be sold through regular MG dealerships rather than the premium MG Select outlets, ensuring wider accessibility.
