New Features and Technology
The highlight of the 2025 MT-15 Version 2.0 is the introduction of a 4.2-inch color TFT display on the DLX variant, replacing the previous LCD unit. This modern console, inspired by the Yamaha R15M and FZ-X Hybrid, supports Bluetooth connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect mobile app.
Riders can now access turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts, maintenance recommendations, parking location tracking, fuel consumption data, malfunction alerts, a revs dashboard, and a unique rider ranking system.
Fresh Color Options
-
- Metallic Silver Cyan (Standard variant): A bold and aggressive shade for a striking road presence.
-
- Ice Storm (DLX variant): A globally popular MT-series color making its debut in India.
-
- Vivid Violet Metallic (DLX variant): A vibrant, sporty finish. The existing Metallic Black shade continues to be offered, while older colors like Dark Matte Blue, Cyan Storm, Cyber Green, Ice Fluo-Vermillion, Racing Blue, and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition have been discontinued.
Unchanged Mechanicals
Mechanically, the 2025 MT-15 Version 2.0 remains identical to its predecessor. It is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), delivering 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts. The motorcycle also retains its traction control system and dual-channel ABS, ensuring rider confidence in varied conditions.
The bike’s Deltabox frame, MotoGP-inspired aluminum swingarm, and lightweight 141 kg kerb weight contribute to its agile handling. Suspension duties are handled by golden USD front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, while braking is managed by disc brakes on both 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tires.
Chairman’s Statement
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, “The MT-15 Version 2.0 has carved a strong identity in the street-naked segment with its aggressive styling, performance-oriented engineering, and everyday versatility. Ever since we introduced the color TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation on the popular R15M, we received consistent demand from MT-15 customers for similar advancements. The 2025 update reflects our commitment to addressing these expectations with advanced features and new youthful colors that enhance both visual appeal and rider engagement.”
Competitive Positioning
The 2025 Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 remains the only liquid-cooled streetfighter in its segment, offering a compelling mix of performance and technology. It competes with rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and the upcoming KTM 160 Duke and RC160. With its updated features and refreshed aesthetics, the MT-15 is well-positioned to maintain its appeal among performance-oriented riders seeking a balance of thrill and practicality.
Availability
The 2025 Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is available for booking at Yamaha dealerships across India and online. With these updates, Yamaha aims to boost sales, building on its consistent performance of 7,123 units sold in June 2025 and 7,034 units in May 2025.
